Electric Guitar/Slide
James Dumm has been involved in the Colorado music
scene for almost 12 years. He studied guitar privately
for seven years (one of his private instructors was
Denver's very own guitarist extraordinaire, Chris
Broderick) before auditioning for the classical performance
program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. At
CU Boulder, he studied classical performance under
the supervision of professor Charles Wolzein, world-renown
classical guitarist. After two years of classical
studies, James transferred to the University of Colorado
at Denver to study jazz and music business. At CU
Denver, James studied with both Dave Devine and Paul
Musso, both well-respected jazz guitarists and educators.
In the spring of 2007, James will graduate from the
University of Colorado with a degree in music industry
and business studies.
In addition to his own ongoing studies, James has
been teaching guitar, bass, and music theory for the
last four years; first through CU Boulder's Continuing
Education program, then privately. James plays and
teaches a variety of styles including rock, blues,
heavy metal, jazz, country, classical, and specializes
in bottleneck slide guitar.
