Bachelor of Music in Musical Performance/Classical Guitar: University of Northern Colorado

Master Music in Classical Guitar Performance: University of Northern Colorado

A native of Colorado, guitarist Jason Olson has been studying and performing since 1989. Expanding upon a background in Rock and Jazz, Jason graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Classical guitar in 2000, and a Master of Music (MM) in 2005. At UNC, Jason studied with Stephen Waechter and Jonathan Leathwood. He also performed in master classes with artists such as Evangelos and Lisa, Antigoni Goni, Fabio Zanon, Judicael Perroy, Jason Vieaux, Nikita Koshkin, and Denis Azabagic. As a classical guitarist, Jason performs both solo and with a classical guitar trio that includes Steve Waechter and Jim Bosse. The trio has recorded the CD "The Angel of Shavano" -- which features the compositions of Jim Bosse -- and currently performs the music throughout Colorado. Jason has also performed with bands such as Vandal, Blind Redemption and Friction since 1989. He currently performs with the Funk/Rock band Fat Pappy as they promote their CD "Fat Pappy's Worm Farm." In addition to performing, Jason has been teaching privately for over 18 years. He currently teaches a studio of over 70 students a week here at Guitar's Etc.

Jason has a focus in teaching: He works to keep the lessons fun while students learn the fundamentals and techniques necessary to become a skilled musician.
